Trip to Nottingham

I visited Nottingham for a couple of days this week! I've been quite a lot over the last few years, so I thought I'd share some of my favourite haunts with you. :)

First up, my favourite place in the city, is the Pit & Pendulum, where you're definetly in for a unique night out.
Cue the crappy photos I took!

One of the exteriors (there are two entrances on oppostie sides of the building)

One of my favourite features of the pub. Everything is decked out to look like a cross between Dracula's castle and Frankensteins' lab. Downstairs turns into a dungeon...

...where there is more seating and the toilets are there, but it's quite difficult to find them after a few drinks...You see, in the Pit & Pendulum, the question, "Where are the toilets?" earns the response, "Downstairs, through the bookcase", accompanied by a puzzled expression as if this was the most normal thing in the world.

When you've found them, once again, there is amazing decor, with arched mirrors and eerie sounds playing, such as doors creaking, ghouls groaning and samples from films like Dawn of the Dead!

As for gothic shops, I would say that Void is the best. They have quite a wide range of stuff, and the guy who works there is just lovely :)

Across the way from Void there's Ice Nine, who mainly sell jewellery, but do have a small section of clothes. Near to the town square there's Blue Banana, but I don't really think it's that special as you can get the generic tweenager clothes they sell pretty much anywhere.

Another great club to go to is Coco Tang. It's a 'secret' club, only marked by a lamp hanging outside, no written sign or window, as it's downstairs to a series of interlinking rooms with glass floors, beds, stools and more.

The interior itself is inspired by "Shanghai's opium dens" and "the American Prohibition's secret underground clubs", so as you can guess it's got a pretty unique vibe. The music varies depending on which night of the week you go on, each with it's own theme.

On to the actual drinks! Coco Tang is primarily a cocktail bar, but the do sell other spirits, beers and wines. However, the cocktails are the real reason you should go! Many of the cocktails have been created especially for Coco Tang, and range from fruity drinks to Krispy Kreme, Haribo or Love Hearts flavours! The "Dirty Cinderella" carries a warning tag of "Highly Intoxicating!" and the "Mad Hatter's Tea Party" is served in a tea pot and tiny cups. However, this is so strong, you need at least two people to order one, and they are limited to one drink per person per night!

I've made it a challenge to try everything on the menu, and believe me, there's a lot to choose from!

This green drink is called the "Drunken Dragonfly", and the one below it is a frozen strawberry Daiquiri, which was the single most amazing thing I have ever tasted.

And the best part is, there is £2 off all cocktails until 10pm! So stock up when it gets to about quarter to 10 to make sure you can last all night!

And finally, to finish up here's a picture of my lovely sister and I in the Pit & Pendulum! :) Yeah, we're both in the middle of blinking but oh well :P

And just a quick reminder, no visit to Nottingham is complete without a trip to the castle to see Robin Hood!!
