Inactive

So I haven't really been on here lately as it's the last couple of weeks of my pre-degree course, so I'm extremely busy! However it's all good fun as I'm in love with my final piece, it involves (handmade!) gold latex and amazing blue fabric! Will post a picture when it's done :)

Anyway, I tend to daydream an awful lot, and recently I've really been missing Berlin. I visited in February, and ever since I got on the plane back to England I've wanted to go back. Seriously, there isn't an adequate word to desribe how much I want to go back or how I felt when I was there. Everything I saw and experienced was just incredible, it felt like home.

Here's a picture of me in front of the Brandenburg Gate, something everyone has to take a picture of when they go to Berlin for the first time.

(p.s. that's my favourite coat, it was a surprise Christmas present and I love it to bits! :3 I also made the bag I'm carrying and matching headbow!)

Nail colours

I have an unhealthy addiction to nail varnish, so it's probably going to be equally unhealthy to my bank balance when I want to buy all of these colours.

Well, maybe not the mushroom colour...I'm not fond of mushrooms.

Trip to Nottingham

I visited Nottingham for a couple of days this week! I've been quite a lot over the last few years, so I thought I'd share some of my favourite haunts with you. :)

First up, my favourite place in the city, is the Pit & Pendulum, where you're definetly in for a unique night out.
Cue the crappy photos I took!

One of the exteriors (there are two entrances on oppostie sides of the building)

One of my favourite features of the pub. Everything is decked out to look like a cross between Dracula's castle and Frankensteins' lab. Downstairs turns into a dungeon...

...where there is more seating and the toilets are there, but it's quite difficult to find them after a few drinks...You see, in the Pit & Pendulum, the question, "Where are the toilets?" earns the response, "Downstairs, through the bookcase", accompanied by a puzzled expression as if this was the most normal thing in the world.

When you've found them, once again, there is amazing decor, with arched mirrors and eerie sounds playing, such as doors creaking, ghouls groaning and samples from films like Dawn of the Dead!

For more info and decent pictures, follow the link below! :)

As for gothic shops, I would say that Void is the best. They have quite a wide range of stuff, and the guy who works there is just lovely :)

Across the way from Void there's Ice Nine, who mainly sell jewellery, but do have a small section of clothes. Near to the town square there's Blue Banana, but I don't really think it's that special as you can get the generic tweenager clothes they sell pretty much anywhere.

Another great club to go to is Coco Tang. It's a 'secret' club, only marked by a lamp hanging outside, no written sign or window, as it's downstairs to a series of interlinking rooms with glass floors, beds, stools and more.

The interior itself is inspired by "Shanghai's opium dens" and "the American Prohibition's secret underground clubs", so as you can guess it's got a pretty unique vibe. The music varies depending on which night of the week you go on, each with it's own theme.

On to the actual drinks! Coco Tang is primarily a cocktail bar, but the do sell other spirits, beers and wines. However, the cocktails are the real reason you should go! Many of the cocktails have been created especially for Coco Tang, and range from fruity drinks to Krispy Kreme, Haribo or Love Hearts flavours! The "Dirty Cinderella" carries a warning tag of "Highly Intoxicating!" and the "Mad Hatter's Tea Party" is served in a tea pot and tiny cups. However, this is so strong, you need at least two people to order one, and they are limited to one drink per person per night!

I've made it a challenge to try everything on the menu, and believe me, there's a lot to choose from!

This green drink is called the "Drunken Dragonfly", and the one below it is a frozen strawberry Daiquiri, which was the single most amazing thing I have ever tasted.

And the best part is, there is £2 off all cocktails until 10pm! So stock up when it gets to about quarter to 10 to make sure you can last all night!

And finally, to finish up here's a picture of my lovely sister and I in the Pit & Pendulum! :) Yeah, we're both in the middle of blinking but oh well :P

And just a quick reminder, no visit to Nottingham is complete without a trip to the castle to see Robin Hood!!

A post about nothing really, I'm just bored.

Bought a gorgeous photo frame recently! :) It was originally gold but looks much better silver. Now I just need to decide which photograph to put in it! In other news, this is what happens when I'm left in a room with a sewing machine and pictures of cats. :/ Maybe I should get a life and stop procrastinating.
Or maybe I'll just put more buttons on it. Heather x

Summer

I have a love/hate relationship with this season, and my dislike for summer stems from many reasons; being too hot, my makeup not staying on properly, chavs with no shirt on because they think it makes them look cool, men wearing shorts and flip-flops (only appropriate on the beach!), sunburn...I could go on.

Being of the 'alternative' persuasion, one of the things I hate most is trying to find appropriate footwear. I absolutely hate gladiator sandals, and find flip-flops uncomfortable for long periods of time, and there isn't much else out there in the summer. There are always platform sandals around, which I do love, but sometimes I just want something comfy to walk about in! Also, I'm tall enough without platforms, so I don't wear them that much in the first place! xD

I am currently in love with this pair of shoes (above), by Jeffery Campbell. They're so cute! But sadly would probably not get worn enough to justify buying them. Perhaps I am just destined to wear Docs in the summer for eternity!

However there are also some good points to summer! The main reason being you can actually go outside without wearing about five layers, and everyone is much more cheerful than in the winter.

And now, obviously, as I have posted one picture of shoes, I must post more! (yes, they get tackier and more sparkly as you scroll down)

And, well...how can you not want Bowie shoes?!

I should go out to clubs and parties more so I would have an excuse to buy them...

Pink.

Recently I've become more attracted to pink things, rather than the usual dark blue or purple. It's really kicked in now it's summer! I always start dressing in psychobilly or a bit like Courtney Love in the summer rather than the gothic styles I wear in the winter. xD Anyway, I bought a gorgeous metallic pink nail varnish yesterday! It is from Stargazer's Ultra Cover range.

http://www.stargazer-products.com/details/?id=3&sub_id=34&product_id=100&style_id= They have so many amazing colours and I was pleasantly surprised at how well it could be applied (I wasn't really expecting anything amazing as it was quite cheap). It was the first time I tried their nail varnishes but I suspect I'll be buying more - I have a real obsession with metallics and glitter! I'll just wait to see how long it stays on before chipping before doing so. :)

I also now have a bit of pink in my hair! :) (excuse the bad angle, it's so you can see the hair properly!) I knid of want to shave the back of my head at the bottom, but don't want the hassle of growing it out! :/

Now all I need is my boyfriend to dress up like this (below) and we can have wonderful pink fluffy adventures! Image is taken from a Tim Walker shoot for Italian Vogue in 2007 (can't remember which issue).

I'll start with this amazing designer I found today; Michal Negrin

He creates some truly amazing items, from intricate jewellery and gorgeous prints for clothes to cute figurines and business card holders. If I had more money and wore pastel colours more I would definitely be buying a lot from him!

In other news, at college today I made some samples using the Shibori technique. The second one reminds me of the suckers on an octopus!

I liked the way they turned out, maybe I'll do some more next week. :) I also made a sample which we all agreed looked better as some kind of snazzy bracelet!
And thankfully, the latex sheeting I've been making had dried so I could then fashion part of it into some kind of bracelet/gauntlet thing. At the moment it reminds of Wonder Woman's indestructable bracelets, but hopefully when I decorate it, it will at least slightly resemble something that can be used in my final project. Will post more pictures upon completion!
